SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- A 103-year-old South Dakota woman proved she's a kid at heart when she climbed out of her wheelchair and onto an elephant during an outing to an Iowa circus.
Alice Anderson and 15 other residents from Prairie Estates Care Center in Elk Point, S.D., rode elephants Friday at the Abu Bekr Shrine Circus in Sioux City. It was Anderson's first elephant ride.
Jenne Goetzinger, the center's nursing director, says Anderson had been talking for weeks about riding an elephant.
Anderson says she wasn't scared of the animal but did have second thoughts.
